Hi, I am Almas!

I’m Almas Khalam, a certified garden consultant based in Canada.

I believe gardening should feel simple, joyful, and deeply rewarding.

Gardening has always been a part of my story , my grandfather was a farmer, and some of my earliest memories are of learning how food is grown and how deeply plants connect us to the land.

Over the years, I’ve combined that early inspiration with formal training. I hold a bachelor’s degree in botany, which gave me a strong foundation in plant biology, and a bachelor’s in education, which taught me how to share knowledge in a way that feels clear and approachable. I also earned a diploma in floral design from Seneca College, blending science with creativity to design gardens and floral arrangements that are both functional and beautiful.

In 2022, I started Truleaf Garden Consulting with a mission: to help people discover how gardening can nourish the body, calm the mind, and transform everyday spaces into something meaningful.

I’ve also been fortunate to contribute beyond my business. I served as a board member with Equal Ground Community Gardens, supporting over 30 community gardens in Brantford and Brant County, and with the Muslim Women of Brant board, where I worked on community initiatives that brought people together through food, gardening, and shared experiences.

For me, gardening is more than planting seeds , it’s about connecting with nature, slowing down, and creating beauty that lasts. I’m always learning from nature itself, which is why I’m a big fan of intensive planting techniques. They allow me to make the most of small spaces while keeping gardens lush, productive, and full of life.
